Performance Task 1: Career Exploration and Plan Development


Portfolio in Computer Systems Servicing
Objective:

Students will explore various career opportunities within the field of computer systems servicing,
assess their own skills and interests, and develop a career plan based on their findings. They will
present their research and career plan in a multimedia presentation.

Task Overview:

You will research the different career paths within computer systems servicing, assess your own skills
and interests, and create a comprehensive career plan. This plan will include a detailed explanation of
the career path you are interested in, why it suits your skills and interests, and the steps you need to
take to pursue this career.

Instructions:
Research Career Opportunities:

Choose three of the listed career paths in computer systems servicing (e.g., Computer Technician,
Network Administrator, Cybersecurity Specialist).

For each chosen career path, research the following:

• Key responsibilities and daily tasks


• Required skills and qualifications
• Typical work environment and conditions
• Potential career growth and salary range
• Relevant certifications or educational requirements

Self-Assessment:

• Reflect on your own skills, interests, and career goals.


• Complete a self-assessment that evaluates your technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and
career interests.
• Identify which career path aligns best with your self-assessment results.
Career Plan Development:

Create a detailed career plan for the chosen path that includes:

• A clear explanation of why this career path suits you.


• Short-term and long-term career goals.
• Steps to achieve these goals, including any additional education or certifications required.
• A timeline for reaching these goals.
• Potential challenges and how you plan to overcome them.

Multimedia Presentation:

Prepare a multimedia presentation (e.g., PowerPoint, Prezi, or video) that includes:

• An overview of the three researched career paths.


• A summary of your self-assessment.
• Your detailed career plan for the chosen path.
• Visuals such as charts, graphs, or infographics to support your presentation.
