REVISED LIFE SAVING RULES
The QatarEnergy LNG Life Saving Rules (LSR) have been recently revised. The introduced
changes address new emerging risks in our project and are in line with the highest
standards of safety practices across the industry.
The updated LSR outline critical actions to prevent serious injuries and protect site
workforce during higher-risk activities. Kindly familiarize yourself with the changes and
comprehend them.

CHANGES ON LIFE SAVING RULES


IGNITION SOURCES: Control of ignition sources (revised)
New controls and guidelines have been introduced to manage ignition sources,
with the aim of minimizing fire risks and ensuring safe work environments in
potentially hazardous areas.
SAFE LIFTING: Plan lifting operations and control the area (revised)
Enhanced protocols for manual and mechanical lifting operations have been
established to reduce the risk of injuries related to improper lifting techniques
and equipment use. These updates clarify the expected procedures for both
personnel and equipment operators.

DRIVING: Follow safe driving rules (revised)


Safe driving expectations have been combined into one rule.

WORKING AROUND MOBILE EQUIPMENT: Maintain a safe distance (new)


Comprehensive safety measures have been strengthened to improve safety
when working near mobile equipment. These include zone management
protocols, visual requirements, and enhanced communication to prevent
accident.

IGNITION SOURCES
Control of ignition sources
1. I identify and control ignition sources.
2. I do not smoke in prohibited areas.
3. I obtain a valid PTW to take any non-intrinsically safe
equipment to the plant.

SAFE LIFTING
Plan lifting operation and control the area
1. I never walk under a suspended load.
2. I establish and obey barriers and exclusion zones.
3. I only operate equipment that I am qualified to use.

DRIVING
Follow safe driving rules
1. I always wear a seatbelt.
2. I do not exceed the speed limit and reduce my speed based on
road conditions.
3. I do not use phones or operate devices while driving.

NEW:
WORKING AROUND MOBILE EQUIPMENT
Maintain a safe distance
1. I establish and obey barriers and exclusion zones.
2. I only operate mobile equipment if qualified and use a flagman/
banksman where required.
3. I establish a clear means of communication with the equipment
operator.
