Course Objectives
Business Statistics involve developing business questions, collecting data,
analyzing it and drawing inference, with a view to making better deci-
sions. For this part of the course, we will learn to form quantitative mind-
set and apply different methods of data analysis to turn data into useful
information as well as new insight for managerial decision making. To
this end, this part of the course will have two major emphasis: (1) Hypothesis
Testing, and (2) Regression Analysis. Business data analysis is
vital in the assessment of new business opportunities, go/no- go decisions
for new products, pricing and product design issues, among other business issues.
This is a hands-on course likely to be of use to anyone pursuing a career in
entrepreneurial ventures, management consulting, venture
capital, as well as more traditional business and management roles.

Teaching Methods
In this course we will use lectures, examples and exercises. Additional
materials may be distributed as needed. The readings are designed to introduce
data analysis concepts and principles. Cases will allow us to ex-
amine, in detail, the application of particular quantitative approach and
techniques. The textbook will serve as background and general readings
that will allow you to better understand the material delivered and dis-
cussed in class. The course is designed to help you become an intelligent
data analyst and producer of better business decisions.

your classmates participate fully. You all have different experiences and
insights, and a great deal of what you learn in class is from each other.
Thus, each one of you is expected to contribute to class discussions,
which will account for 25% of your final grade.

Final Project
The objective of the final group project is to provide you with hands-on
experience in applying what you learn in the course to a real-world enter-
