Registration as a Candidate for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy
Thank you for accepting your offer to study at the University of Auckland. Your registration has now been approved and
we look forward to welcoming you to the University. Please check the attached summary of registration details and let us
know immediately if any are incorrect. This email constitutes your formal "Unconditional Offer" and can be used for visa
applications by international students.
Your next step is to enrol in the programme, which is done in person when you arrive on Campus. Please make an
appointment with a Postgraduate Advisor to confirm your enrolment. Email postgradinfo@auckland.ac.nz to request an
available appointment slot, which should coincide with your arrival at the University. Please note that international
students must have a valid student visa in order to enrol.
Doctoral enrolments begin on the first day of the month. You must be enrolled at the University within six months of
the date of this email.
Fees
As a doctoral student you are required to enrol and pay fees for each year in which you are registered. Re-enrolment each
year is automatic.
A fees invoice for this and other years will be posted on Student Services Online within a few days of your enrolment. If
you have been awarded a scholarship administered by the University of Auckland, this will be loaded onto your account
automatically. If you are a University of Auckland staff member you may be eligible to apply for a Staff Fees Remission.
In order to apply for your student visa, you must first pay your tuition fees using the payment information on the fees
estimate below. Once payment has been processed you will be able to generate a receipt of payment. Both the receipt of
payment and this offer email are required to support your visa application. Scholarship students may be able to present a
letter from their scholarship provider as further evidence of financial support.
Your enrolment will take place only when you have obtained your student visa and arrived in New Zealand to commence
your studies.
New Zealand Law requires that each international student studying in New Zealand shall have adequate travel and health
and personal effects insurance cover. The premium for the University plan is automatically charged to your tuition fees.

If you are a first-time student at this University, you may be eligible for a free airport transfer to your accommodation in the

Estimated Tuition Fees (for a one-year full-time enrolment based on Domestic Fees for
2020):
NZ$ 7,250.40
Tuition fees are calculated on a per points basis and are reviewed annually. Tuition fees
comprise programme or course fees.
Payment for Health and Travel Insurance can be included when paying this invoice. For more
information on, pre-existing condition, family rates and policy wording, visit
www.auckland.ac.nz/is-insurance.
After you are enrolled in your courses, click the View Account Summary tab and follow the instructions to print your fees
statement/invoice. The itemised statement/invoice may show an amount different from this Fees Estimate. For more

You can make an online payment from your home country by international Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) using Flywire,
our third party international payment provider.
