Group Project
Overview
This course includes a significant group project designed to enhance your learning through
collaboration, research, and presentation skills. You will work with peers from diverse
backgrounds to explore an AI-related topic of your choice, design a poster, and present your
findings in an interactive poster exhibition.
Your group may choose to focus on a general AI topic (e.g., machine learning algorithms,
ethical considerations of AI, the future of artificial intelligence) or explore how AI is applied
in a specific field (e.g., AI in healthcare, AI in finance, AI in education). The flexibility of this
project allows for a multi-faceted approach, encouraging students to incorporate discussions
from various perspectives, including but not limited to:
Objectives
By completing this project, students will:
• Develop teamwork and collaboration skills.
• Explore and research a general AI topic or AI’s role in a specific field.
• Communicate ideas clearly for a non-expert audience.
• Engage in peer learning by reviewing and discussing different projects.
• Provide and receive constructive feedback, improving both critical thinking and
presentation skills.
Workload Expectation
Each student is expected to spend 16 hours on this project, including brainstorming, meetings,
research, writing the proposal, drafting and refining the poster, preparing and practicing the
presentation, and participating in peer review. Work should be shared equitably, and peer
evaluations will assess individual contributions.
Group Size
Each project group should have 4 to 6 students, with 5 being the preferred size for balanced
collaboration. This ensures a manageable workload while allowing diverse perspectives and
skills to contribute effectively. Groups should aim for equitable participation, with all members
actively involved in research, poster creation, and presentation.
Getting Help
Each group will have a Student TA Mentor to provide guidance on research, poster design, and
presentation preparation. Additional support is available at the Help Desk (details here), open
daily for drop-in assistance, and from your tutorial TA. We also encourage students to use the
Discussion Forum on Ed for quick questions, idea sharing, and peer support. Don’t hesitate to
reach out—help is always available!

generated from the PowerPoint file. Maintain the A0 size and portrait orientation. Be aware
that late submissions will not be accepted, so plan accordingly to ensure timely completion.
During the exhibition, your poster will undergo two reviews: one by a designated reviewer and
another by your peers. It is important to remain near your poster to present and discuss your
work with attendees. Additionally, your group will conduct a peer review of another group’s
poster, as assigned on Ed. This review should be collaborative among group members, resulting
in a single comprehensive review. Lastly, each group member must submit an intra-group peer
review detailing individual contributions to the project. This helps in assessing participation
and the distribution of work within the group.
Conclusion
This project is an opportunity to explore AI in a way that aligns with your interests—whether
by focusing on a general AI topic or its application in a specific field. The interactive poster
exhibition will showcase a diverse range of projects, allowing students to learn from each other,
provide valuable feedback, and receive constructive input to improve their work.
Since your poster will be viewed by a general audience, it is essential to use clear language,
define key terms, and present information in an engaging and accessible way. Your goal is to
help others understand AI concepts and appreciate its broader implications, regardless of their
background knowledge.
