ABA 634 Week 1 SAFMEDS Assignment

The document presents data analysis and study methods for ABA634, focusing on acquisition and fluency performance from January 6 to January 10, 2025. Both acquisition and fluency trials showed upward trends, with the final trials meeting the AIM goal of 14 accelerations. Adjustments for the next week include using physical flashcards to enhance vocabulary application in daily interactions.

Data Analysis

Figure 1.1 displays the acquisition data collected for the week of January 6 th – January

10th. An upward trend can be seen between the first and last data point of time trial collection.

On trial 1, the baseline data collected was 4 accel and 0 decel. In trial 5, the previous data

collected for the week was 14 accel and 0 decel. This represents high variability as the

difference in accel between the beginning and end trial was 10 accel. This variability can be

hypothesized due to the study methods of completing assigned readings and reviewing the

lectures of week 1. The acquisition decel data represents little variability as only 1 decel card

was recorded for week 1. The number of cards skipped remained consistently at 0. The last trial

indicates that the AIM is being met this week as the accel was 14 accel and the AIM goal was 14

accel.

Figure 1.5 displays the fluency data collected for the week of January 6 th – January 10th.

An upward trend can be seen between the first and last data point of time trial collection. In

trial 1, the data collected was 8 accel and 0 decel. On trial 5, the last data collected of the week

was 14 accel and 0 decel. This represents moderate variability due to the difference in accel

between the beginning and end trials was 6 accel. The variability can be hypothesized as due to

the study methods of completing assigned readings and lectures and reviewing the notes taken

in previous courses relating to ABA634 Fluency Deck 1. The number of cards skipped remained

consistently at 0. The last trial indicates that the AIM is being met, concluding the week with 14

accel with an AIM of 14 accel.

Study Approach and Adjustments

Antecedent: My study methods during week 1 were to create a notes page for week 1’s

readings and lectures that correlate to the terms in ABA634 Acquisition Deck 1. My study times

consisted of about 2-hour long sessions for 5 days. For example, one full session being 1 hour

for Acquisition and 40 minutes for Fluency and 10 minutes for trials being about 2 hours

working on SAFMEDS.

Behavior: On day 1 of the trial timed day, I ran one 30-second timing of both acquisition

and fluency deck and entered that data point on the ABA Knowledge Builder Progress Chart. On

days 2 through 5, I ran five 30-second timings for the acquisition deck and three 30-second

timings for the fluency deck, shuffled between each timing, and entered the best data point

into the ABA Knowledge Builder Progress Chart for Acquisition.

Consequence: For Acquisition Deck 1, I ended the week with 14 accel meeting the

weekly AIM requirement of 14 accel. I received 1 decel card for the week. For Fluency Deck 1, I

ended the week with 14 accel, meeting the AIM requirement of 14 accel. I received 0 decel

cards for the week.

Adjustment: For week 2, I will be utilizing physical flashcards that I can use throughout

my daily schedule. I plan on taking a random set of 3 cards with me to work and use them in my

vocabulary when talking to colleagues or BCBA.
