Lifecycle Management (LCM)

Lifecycle Management (LCM) refers to coordinating activities involved with the

documentation and execution of information technology solutions, beginning with their

invention and ending with their disposal (Bey, 2018). Such undertakings include creating

operations, outlining requirements, scheming, developing, testing, executing, and disposing of

systems.

The initial pre-vision stage is one of the essential program activities that will take place.

During the Pre-Vision Stage, you will develop and acquiesce the initial budget bid and

rationalization, an Analysis of Options for the new idea, and a draft Project Tailoring Plan. These

three tasks are meant to be completed in order. This stage co-occurs with the Pre-Selection Phase

of Capital Planning and Investment Control. The next level is known as the vision stage.

Additional work will be done during the Vision Stage to improve a business case and required

acquisition planning documents to attain services. These tasks will be carried out to accomplish

the Vision Stage's purpose. The project's viability and potential costs will be evaluated

throughout this process.

The third step is the stage when we define things. The Definition Stage's primary

objective is to specify the functional requirements for the project, making sure to consider both

the business and the technological solutions (Pati, 2022). During the Construction and Validation

Stage, the team working on the plan will generate an advanced functional design and a

comprehensive solution design. These designs will be utilized to guide the work being done. The

building and verification step is the fourth one in this process. During the Design and Validation

Stage, you will build the solution, test it, and verify it. You will also transform the specifications

established during the Definition Stage into an executable solution. You will also validate the

solution's functionality to certify that it exceeds or meets business and practical expectations.

The fifth step is the stage of the actual implementation. During the Implementation Stage,

the new or improved solution will be installed in the production environment, users will receive

training, data will be converted as necessary, and the solution will be handed over to end users.

Sixth on the list is the stage of operations and maintenance. During the Operations and

Maintenance Stage, the primary focus is documenting and performing operational procedures for

solution change. The last stage is the one when one is retired. The Retirement Stage's primary

objective is to achieve the steps to end the system methodically.
