Background & Objective of the Course


Operations Management is essential for understanding how businesses produce goods and services efficiently.
In the context of MIS, this course emphasizes the integration of information systems in planning, controlling,
and improving operational processes. It equips students with the knowledge to apply data-driven decision-
making, technology, and analytics to enhance productivity, quality, and supply chain performance in digitally
enabled organizations.

• Apply decision-making tools and models for operations planning and control.
• Analyze and design efficient production and service processes.
• Evaluate sustainability and supply chain considerations in operations.
• Utilize technology and big data in improving operations and supply chain performance.

Methodology
▪ Lecture and experiential learning methods will be applied to create a better learning environment for the
students.
▪ Quizzes will be taken regularly online or offline basis.
▪ I prefer e-mail communication. In the case of emergency, contact through cell phone. The E-mail subject
line should include DU-MIS-OM: ………….
▪ Form a group of five (5) for case analysis and other class purposes. Submit the case analysis in MEMO
format. The analysis should not include more than two pages typed in 1 line spacing, Times New Roman,
and Fort size 12. However, you can have an appendix.
▪ Plagiarism will be severely penalized. In addition, zero Tolerance is the norm in the case of academic
misconduct or dishonesty, or cheating. This means helping other students cheat in examinations,
reproducing the work of others as one's work, and fabricating or falsifying any information with the intent
to deceive, forgery, alteration, or misuse University documents, records, and identity.
▪ Group Presentation Guidelines: Prior to the final exam, each student group will deliver a presentation
on a topic assigned by the course instructor. Each group will consist of 5 members, and topics will be
related to contemporary issues in Operations Management, including applications of MIS and analytics. On
the presentation day, each group must submit a team member list along with a declaration of individual

contribution percentages, which must sum up to 100%. The contribution report will influence individual
presentation scores.
