12. The surface area of two similar solid cylinders are 500 cm 2 and 320 cm 2 . If the capacity of the
smaller cylinder is 0. 448litres. Find the capacity of the larger cylinder. (4 marks)

13. The internal and external radii of a metallic pipe are 69 cm and 70 cm respectively, if the pipe is 10
m long, calculate the mass of the pipe in kilograms.

(a) Find the equation of L in the form y = mx + c (2 marks)

(b) Find the equation of P in the form ax + by = c, where a, b and c are integers.

(c) Given that another line Q is parallel to L and passes through point ( −4, 6 ) , find the
equation of line Q, leaving it in the form ax + by + c = 0 where a, b and c are integers.

18. The figure below represents a speed-time graph for a town commuter bus service between two
terminuses.

(a) Determine the acceleration of the bus in the first 20 seconds (2 marks)

(b) Given that the distance between the two terminus is 1475 metres, find the value of x .

19. The diagram below represents a peg used to tether a cow in a certain ranch. The total height of the
peg is 33cm. It made up of hemispherical top, a conical bottom and the middle part is cylindrical.

20. Tina, a cereals dealer bought 3 bags of beans and 5 bags of maize for Ksh 44,500. If she had bought
2 bags of beans and 4 bags of maize, she would have paid Ksh 12,500 less. Taking x to represent
the price of a bag of beans and y that of a bag of maize.
(a) Form two equations to represent the above information. (1 mark)

(b) Use matrix method to find the price of a bag of beans and a bag of maize. (5 marks)

(c) She sold all the beans and maize at 20% and 12% profit respectively. Find the percentage
profit. (4 marks)

cm supplies water to this tank at the rate of 60 cm/second .

(i) capacity of the tank in litres (2 marks)

(ii) amount of water in litres delivered to this tank in one hour (2 marks)

(iii) the time taken to fill the tank when it is empty (2 marks)

(b) A full tank is consumed every day, with each family consuming an average of 400 litres per
day. Each family pays a uniform rate of Ksh 500 per month.
Calculate;
(i) number of families living in the estate (2 marks)

(ii) total amount of money collected every month (2 marks)
