Chapter one:

Ana has a lot of problems with her friends and family. Ana is fifteen years old. She lives
at Hermosa Beach, California. She does not have a large house and she does not have a small
house. She attends a large school: West Torrance High School. Both of Ana’s parents work at
the hospital. Her dad is a doctor and her mom is a secretary. Ana feels like her family won't do
anything for her. Ana’s friend does not have problems with her family like Ana.

Chapter two:

​ Ana woke up at seven am and couldn't find her history book. She asked her family to
help her look for it. None of her family really wants to help. Ana ends up finding the book on her
bed. Ana goes to school with her friend sara. Sara has new clothes. The clothes are blue: Ana’s
favorite color. In Spanish class their teacher tells them about her trip to mexico. Ana wants to go
to mexico. She talks with her dad about a trip to mexico. Her dad agrees.

Chapter three:

​ Ana goes to the airport with her family. Her friends also show up to say goodbye. Ana is
nervous and excited to go to Mexico. When she arrives in Mexico her family is not at the airport.
She asked a man named José to help her find them. José gets her a taxi. The taxi takes her to
her family's house. She arrives at their house and finds out how pobre they are. Ana meets her
new family and learns about their school.

Chapter four:

​ Ana and her friends go downtown to the gym. Ana wants to see kids. They go to the
park and then to the pool. Next the three go to the store. The food is not like American food but
the fruit is similar to the fruit in California. Ana goes to the bank to trade her US dollars for
Mexican money. She buys a taco. They go home and listen to the radio and watch tv.

Chapter five:

Ana goes to the gym by herself and meets a girl named Patricia. Patricia invites Ana to
her house.They go to her house. The two talk about Mexican food and dances. They also talk
about the food in California. They talk about Ana’s school.They talk about Patricia’s school.

Chapter six:
​ Patricia y Ana van al baile. Hay muchas personas en el baile. Ana vamos a un festival.
Ana meets a boy named Ricardo. Ricardo habla mucho español.

Chapter seven:

​ Ana regresa a California. Ana y Patricia están muy tristes. Ricardo está triste. Ana está
en el avión y se sienta. Después Ana toma otro avión y va a Los Ángeles. Ana sale del avión y
mira a su familia. Ana va a su casa. Está feliz y triste.

Chapter eight:


​ Ana está en el carro de la familia. Ana entra casa. Ana es una persona diferente. Ana no
piensa mucho en un carro nuevo, en una casa grande, y en ropa nueva. Ana piensa mucho en
México. Ana recibe un mensaje de Ricardo. Ana está muy contenta porque puede hablar con
sus nuevos amigos en México.

Chapter nine:

​ Ana habla con un estudiante en la escuela. Se llama Paul. Ana le dice a Paul:
necesitamos hacer una recolección de ropa para las personas necesitadas en México. Cuando
van al baile en la escuela. Los estudiantes van al baile y pagan dinero.

I understood what the author was trying to tell us, but I did have some trouble understanding
some of the book. The first few chapters were easier to understand, but I feel like they
progressively got harder. Overall, I think I enjoyed the book.
