    Legal Vistas launches portal for online dispute resolution

    New Delhi, Nov 25: Legal and IT firm Legal Vistas Condultancy has launched a portal for
    resolution of disputes arising between consumers, investors and companies.

    The platform 'earbitration.Net' is an Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) mechanism that would
    cut arbitration costs to almost half, besides saving time.

    "With the Indian courts overburdened, the online dispute resolution method would reduce the
    pressure on the courts and bring down the cost of litigation and time required," Minister of
    State for Consumer Affairs and Food Akhilesh Prasad Singh said at a symposium organised
    by earbitration.Net here.

    The company would initially provide this service to its clients and plans to expand further.

    "It is like other dispute resolution mechanisms but it is an online service. It will benefit
    consumers and companies in retail, finance and FMCG segments which have large
    customer base," Legal Vistas Advocate Partner Syed Kamaran Razvi said.

    The award passed by the forum will be legally binding under the Arbitration and Conciliation
    Act 1996.
