Prepare a frequency table of the scores.

14. The following table shows the ages of 5 ladies. Illustrate this using a bar
graph and answer the following questions.
(a) Who is the youngest of all ?
(b) Who is twice as old as Shalini ?
(c) By how many years, Apama is older than Meenu.
(d) What is the ratio of the ages of Vimla and Apama ?
(e) Find the average of their ages.

Sol: (a) Shalini is the youngest with age of 25 years


(b) Age of Shalini = 25 years
For twice her age = 25 x 2 = 50 years
Mithlesh has the age of 50 years.
Mithlesh is twice as old as Shalini
(c) Age of Apama = 40 years
Age of Meenu = 40 years
Difference between their ages = 40 – 35 = 5 years
Hence Apama is 5 years older than Meenu.
(d) Age of Vimla = 30 years
Age of Apama = 40 years
Hence ratio of the ages of Vimla and Apama = 30/40=3/4 = 3 : 4
