Method Statement DB Installation
2.0 MATERIALS
2.1 Materials required for the installation of Distribution Boards (DBs) include:
- Distribution Boards (DBs)
- Cable glands and lugs
- PVC wires
- Identification labels and tags
2.2 All materials shall be inspected upon delivery to ensure compliance with approved
submittals and are free from damage.
4.1 STORAGE
4.1.1 DBs shall be inspected immediately upon arrival at the site for damage and compliance
with the approved submittals.
4.1.2 Once checked, the DBs should be repacked properly and stored in a covered,
ventilated storage area.
4.1.3 Any materials found unsuitable for the project shall be removed from the site
immediately.
4.1.4 DBs should be stacked in alignment with the manufacturer’s recommendations and
should avoid over-stacking to prevent damage.
4.2 INSTALLATION
4.2.1 Ensure that the approved shop drawings, electrical room layouts, and load schedules
are available to the installation team.
4.2.2 Transport the DBs and associated accessories to the work area with appropriate
manpower.
4.2.3 Inspect the labeling and markings of the DBs to ensure the correct type before
installation.
4.2.4 Mark the fixing position of the DBs according to the shop drawings and coordinate
with other equipment and services in the area.
4.2.5 Install the DB frame securely with proper metal plugs and bolts, ensuring the panel is
straight and leveled.
4.2.6 Use the appropriate knock-out openings at the top of the DBs for incoming cable entry,
ensuring these match the cable glands and lugs for rigid terminations.
4.2.7 In apartments, provisions on the gland plate should be made as per the approved
drawings, and the gland plate should be cut to accommodate the trunking size.
4.2.8 Ensure that busbars and interconnecting terminals are free from damage during
installation.
4.2.9 Install the appropriate breakers as per the approved load schedule and terminate all
circuits with proper ferrule identification.
4.2.10 Organize wires neatly using cable ties and clean the DB after termination to remove
any dust or particles using a blower.
4.2.11 Provide appropriate identification labels as per the specifications and approved
submittals.
4.2.12 Fix the doors securely and place a copy of the approved load schedule inside the DB
