Thomas Edison was a famous inventor. One of his most important inventions was the electric
light bulb. Before Edison created the light bulb, people used to use candles or oil lamps for light.

_____. Edison wanted to make a better and safer way to light homes and streets. Edison
worked very hard in his lab with his team of helpers. 2_____. They tested hundreds of materials,
but none of them worked well. During this time, Edison and his team didn't give up. They kept
experimenting and thinking of new ideas. One day, they tried using a piece of carbonised
bamboo for filament. When they turned on the power, it glowed brightly. It lasted for many hours

Edison also worked on creating a whole system to produce and distribute electricity. This way,
people could use the light bulbs in their homes. After Edison introduced the light bulb, it quickly
