Program Objective: -
1. By Studying law in the particular context of humanities and social sciences the students are
groomed to respond to governance, administration and human behavior.

2. Student’s gain an edge over other peers to lead and shape social and public enterprises such as
the State, Community organization and Social Enterprises.

3. Course curriculum facilitates learning Law in a profound way in response to contemporary


development with hands on experience in legal knowledge and skills in value frame work in a
fast-changing India set in a de-globalizing world.

4. The Student will be groomed in intellectual integrity, ethics.

5. The Student will improve cognitive, problem-solving skills, independent critical thinking with
research capabilities

6. Students will be able to cultivate the ability to appreciate role of lawyers in justice education
in globalizing world, sustainability, poverty and vulnerability.

Course Objectives:

1. To state the historical perspective of importance of Environmental protection.


2. To describe the evolution of Environmental law since the dawn of modern India.
3. To create an understanding and critical awareness of the foundational principles of the
legal system related to the protection of the environment in context

4. To identify and critically assess the framework of environmental law in national and
international level in the context of ethics, values, human rights perspective and
constitutional values
5. To explore the complex social, economic and political context in which environmental
law exists.
6. To demonstrate the interplay of Environmental Laws with other laws such as Law of
Torts, Criminal Procedure Code, Constitution of India and Indian Penal Code; apart from
covering the major legislations relating to Air Act, Water Act, Environment Protection Act,
Public Liability Insurance Act, Indian Forest Act, Wildlife Protection act, NGT Act.
7. To analyse the environmental issues, debates and ideas that have been influencing
the policies, laws and mind set of masses like the relationship of trade and environment,
human rights and environment, environmental justice et al.
8. To investigate the relationship between human life and the environment from amoral,
ethical and legal perspective illustrating current and emerging problems and potential
solutions.

Dr. Sanu Rani Paul is Ph.D. from the Department of Studies in Law, University of Mysore. She
has experience of nearly 8 years in academic. She has taught various subjects like Energy Law,
Philosophy of Law and Ethics, Environmental Law etc.

Dr. Vineeta Kumari Chowdhary has done her B.A.LL.B. from Faculty of Law, University
ofAllahabad, her LL.M. specializing in Human Rights from BBAU, Lucknow and her Ph.D.
from University of Allahabad. She has qualified UGC National Eligibility Test as well and
awardee of UGC fellowship. She has past experience of teaching subjects like environmental
law, jurisprudence, human rights and ADR.
