Mocking Interview
Part 1: Self-Introduction
Interviewer:
“Hi ...., thanks for joining us today. To start off, can you tell us a little bit about yourself and
your background?”
Answer:
“Hi! I’m ..... I’ve been working in digital communications and social media for over five years
now.
Most recently, I led the social media strategy for a fintech startup, where I focused a lot on
building brand presence across LinkedIn and Instagram. That helped us grow engagement by
40% within six months. What really excites me about NGS Super is your focus on education and
community sectors, it totally aligns with what I believe in, and also with the kind of meaningful
content I enjoy creating. I’d love to bring my storytelling skills and data-driven mindset to help
humanise and grow NGS Super’s online presence.”
Interviewer:
“Thanks for sharing. Now, can you give us an example of a time when you had to improve social
media engagement? Please use the STAR format if you can.”
Answer:
“Sure! In my last role, we noticed a steady drop in engagement on our LinkedIn page.
That was the situation. So, I proposed a weekly content series featuring real user stories, and
started interacting more with comments, thanking people, tagging contributors, just being more
human. That was the action. And the result? Within a month, impressions doubled, and we
started getting direct messages from new followers asking about our services.
It really reinforced how authentic, community-led content builds trust and that’s something I’m
excited to apply in this role.”
Part 3: Reflection
Interviewer:
“That’s a great example. Just to reflect why did you choose to share those particular responses,
and how do you think you performed in delivering them?”
Answer:
“For my introduction, I really wanted to balance personality with professionalism. So I focused
on showing what I do and what I care about, without sounding too rehearsed. I wanted to keep it
light but confident. For the STAR example, I picked something that aligns closely with NGS
Super’s goals, community engagement and brand presence. I thought it clearly showed both my
initiative and the measurable results I achieved. I think I did well in keeping the answers
structured and relevant. But one thing I want to keep improving is my delivery, so it sounds even
more natural, not like I’m reading. That’s something I’m practicing with mock interviews like
this.”
