Evolution

Evolution is the gradual change in species characteristics over time, driven primarily by natural selection as proposed by Charles Darwin. It is supported by various forms of evidence, including fossils and genetic similarities, and involves mechanisms like mutations and environmental pressures. Speciation occurs when isolated populations evolve independently, potentially leading to the formation of new species.

Evolution

Evolution is the gradual change in the characteristics of a species over time. It

explains how all living organisms have developed from common ancestors through
natural processes. The main mechanism driving evolution is natural selection, a
concept proposed by Charles Darwin. In natural selection, individuals with traits that
give them an advantage in their environment are more likely to survive and
reproduce. These favorable traits are then passed on to the next generation.

Over long periods, small genetic changes accumulate, leading to the development of
new species. Evolution is supported by evidence from fossils, comparative anatomy,
molecular biology, and embryology. For example, similarities in DNA sequences
between humans and other primates suggest a common ancestry.

Mutations, which are changes in the DNA sequence, also contribute to evolution by
introducing genetic variation. Some mutations may be beneficial, some neutral, and
others harmful. Environmental pressures such as climate change, competition, and
predators influence which traits become more common.

Speciation occurs when populations of the same species become isolated and evolve
independently. Over time, they may become so different that they can no longer
interbreed.

In summary, evolution is a natural, ongoing process that
