Notification
Scheme of theory paper for session 2024-25 onwards First professional M.B.B.S., Second professional M.B.B.S., Third
professional M.B.B.S. Part -1, Third professional M.B.B.S. Part -I. (All upcoming examinations will be conducted as per this
notification).
There shall be each paper of 100 marks. The pattern of question in each paper will be as follows -

These Questions require comprehensive and detailed


answers, demonstrating in depth knowledge and the
ability of students to integrate concepts.
Structure of long questions
(Typically divided into sub parts) each 10 marks question
will usually have 2-3 sub parts with marks allocated to
each sub parts.
Answer should be structured and should cover all aspects
of the questions asked.
3 Reasoning Questions 03 15
These questions test student's ability to explain why or
how a particular phenomenon occurs, student should
provide a scientific basis of justification.
4 Applied Question 04 05 20
These questions present an applied knowledge based,
clinical scenario, case study or practical situations giving
students a chance to apply theoretical knowledge into
clinical context. This will assess student's problem
solving and clinical reasoning ability.
5 Short notes (Including 01 AETCOM based) 05 05 25
These questions require concise yet comprehensive
explanation of specific topic. Focuses on key definitions
features, mechanisms, classifications or clinical
relevance.
One of these short notes will be AETCOM based. This
question will access student's understanding of attitude,
ethics and communication skill relevant to medical
practice.
No separate Question paper for section A&section B willbe provided instead one MCQs and one Descriptive
Question paper (Which will include section Aand section B) willbe given to the students.
There willbe nochange in Syllabus for Paper-I and Paper -II (Section Aand Section Bwill be merged in single
Paper.
30 minutes after start of examination MCQs OMR sheet from allthe students willbe collected.
Criteria for internal assessment, practical examinations, practical marks, viva -voce and others will be as per the
NMC noms for the respective batches of the different M.B.B.S. Part-1, Part-II and Final part -I and Part-II
professional examinations.
