AT&T Performing Arts Center Debuts Third Season of Patio Sessions Free Outdoor Music Series Patio Sessions,

Featuring Local Bands, Starts Thursday, April 5

DALLAS (April 4, 2012) On Thursday, April 5, the AT&T Performing Arts Center will present its third season of Patio Sessions, a free music series in the Centers Sammons Park. The weekly Patio Sessions features a diverse schedule of local artists from the Dallas-Fort Worth area, the first week featuring Calhoun with Madison King opening. The performances, aimed at the downtown, after-work crowd, begin at 5:30 p.m., adding to an already vibrant lineup of activities in the downtown Dallas Arts District on Thursday evenings. To celebrate the first week, the Center will kick off Patio Sessions by being the first stop on The East Dallas Indie Crawl. The Crawl starts at Patio Sessions then heads to Granada Theater for White Denim and Beauty Bar for Big Bang Dallas The Return of DJ SOBER hosted by A.Dd+! This promises to be a night of great tunes, dancing and enjoyment while also helping support Texas musicians and local venues. Local food trucks will be on site for concessions for purchase and visitors are also welcome to bring their own food. The only alcoholic beverages permitted will be those purchased at the Centers concessions stands. Patio Sessions is scheduled every Thursday, beginning April 5. It will run for two semesters, the first from April May, and the second from September October. The lineup is comprised entirely of local musicians, including emerging new artists and favorites of the areas indie rock scene. The first semester will feature the following musicians:

April 5 Calhoun with Madison King opening Calhouns music has been described as catchy, irresistible, gorgeous, melodic, sorta poppy, sorta rootsy, sorta rockin, and, in general, really splendid music. You can call it what you will, but lead

singer Tim Locke says, Were just a pop band. Then he laughingly concedes a nod to the rootrock and alt-country influences that others hear in the bands music. Well, lets say were just a pop band with a pedal steel thrown in occasionally. Formed in Fort Worth, TX in the spring of 2004, Calhoun began as a collection of friends fleshing out the always-welcome singer-songwriter three-minute manifesto. April 12 The Os with Jacob Metcalf opening With over 350 shows and 1 album behind them, The O's return with their sophomore release "Between The Two." Jacob Metcalf composes modern western music written for piano or guitar with an orchestra in mind. He is releasing his debut album entitled Fjord this year. Metcalf wowed me with his emotional tone and classical melodies. Its great to hear an artist focus so much on composition, not shying around from complex structures on top of straightforward acoustic guitar strumming. May 10 Chris Johnson of Telegraph Canyon with Ryan Thomas Becker opening Fort Worth, Texas based Telegraph Canyon is the brain child of American songwriter Chris Johnson. Known for dynamic performances and orchestral like arrangements, they are not easily categorized as a folk band or an indie rock band. May 24 Dallas String Quartet

The Dallas String Quartet has been playing together and bringing their love of music to others since its founding in 2007. The group is comprised of award winning violist and founder, Ion Zanca; cellist Gaston Colloca; and violinists Jorge Caldelari and Tatiana Glava. They perform as a traditional classical quartet, and as an electric quartet for discerning audiences.
