Computer Networking

What is Computer Networking?


Computer networking is connecting two or more computers that allows them to share resources. They analyze, design, develop, test and
evaluate local area network (LAN) or wide area network (WAN) systems for data sharing and communications. The program at COC
prepares students for an entry-level position in an IT related industry with emphasis in either CCNA Network Administrator or MCSA
Systems Administrator. Emphasis is placed on hands-on labs and case studies designed to apply principles and develop troubleshooting skills.
The program provides industry certifications from industries and organizations such as BICSI, Cisco, and CompTIA. Based on U.S. Bureau of
Labor and Statistics, number of employment is expected to grow faster than average due to digital revolution. Hands on computer work that
involves investigation and problems solving is a central aspect of individuals who choose this major.
COC - Computer Networking Associate in Science - will not transfer to a 4 year institution
COC - Computer Networking Certificate of Achievement - will not transfer to a 4 year institution
COC - Network Associate Certificate of Specialization - will not transfer to a 4 year institution
COC - Civic and Community Engagement Certificate of Specialization- will not transfer to a 4 year institution
