Addie Model

The document outlines the ADDIE Model, a systematic approach to instructional design that includes five phases: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. Each phase serves a specific purpose, from setting goals and designing instructional strategies to developing materials and evaluating effectiveness. The document also emphasizes the importance of continuous evaluation throughout the instructional design process.

ADDIE Model: Instructional Design

RICHARD M. LORENTE, MAEd

Subject Professor
1st Semester SY 2021-2022
• Instructional design is the systematic approach to the Analysis,
Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation of learning
materials and activities.
• It is simply a "device" to help us think through a course's design.
ADDIE Model: The Analysis Phase

The Analysis phase can be considered as the "Goal-Setting" Stage. During

this phase, you must define the problem, identify the source of the
problem and determine possible solutions.
Here are some questions to think about during the analysis phase:
• Who your learners are?
• What are the learner’s needs?
• What are the desired learning outcomes in terms of knowledge,
skills, attitudes, behavior etc.?
ADDIE Model: The Analysis Phase
• What are the existing instructional strategies
employed?
• What are instructional goals?
• What is the most conducive learning environment?
• What limiting factors exist with respect to resources,
including technical, support, time, human resources,
technical skills, financial factors, support factors?
ADDIE Model: The Design Phase
• The Design Stage determines all goals, tools to be used to gauge
performance, various tests, subject matter analysis, planning and
resources.
• The Design phase involves using the outputs from the Analyze phase
to plan a strategy for developing the instruction.
• During this phase, you must outline how to reach the instructional
goals determined during the Analyze phase and expand the
instructional foundation.
You can consider the following in this stage:
• Different types of media to be used.
• Various resources at hand required to complete the project.
• Teaching style.
• Time frame for each activity.
ADDIE Model: The Design Phase
• Some of the elements of the Design Phase may include writing a
target population description, conducting a learning analysis, writing
objectives and test items, selecting a delivery system, and sequencing
the instruction. The outputs of the Design phase will be the inputs for
the Develop phase.
ADDIE Model: The Development Phase

• The Development Stage builds on both the Analyze and Design

phases. The purpose of this phase is to generate the lesson plans
and lesson materials. During this phase you will develop the
instruction, all media that will be used in the instruction, and any
supporting documentation. This may include hardware (e.g.,
simulation equipment) and software (e.g., computer-based
instruction).
ADDIE Model: The Implementation Phase
• The Implementation phase refers to the actual delivery of
the instruction, whether it's classroom-based, lab-based,
or computer-based. The purpose of this phase is the
effective and efficient delivery of instruction. This phase
must promote the students' understanding of material,
support the students' mastery of objectives, and ensure
the students' transfer of knowledge from the instructional
setting to the job.
• Design evaluation is done in the implementation phase.
• What is the emotional feedback given to you by students?
• Do you see that students are able to grasp the topic immediately or do they
need help?
ADDIE Model: The Implementation Phase

• What will your response be if, after presenting activities to

students, things do not go as planned?
• Did you prepare a back-up tool in the event of initial failure of the
project?
• When the student group gets the material can they work
independently, or is constant guidance required?
ADDIE Model: The Evaluation Phase
• This phase measures the effectiveness and efficiency of the
instruction. Evaluation should actually occur throughout the
entire instructional design process - within phases, between
phases, and after implementation. Evaluation may be
Formative or Summative.
• Every stage of the ADDIE process involves formative evaluation.
• Formative Evaluation is ongoing during and between phases.
The purpose of this type of evaluation is to improve the
instruction before the final version is implemented.
ADDIE Model: The Evaluation Phase
• Summative Evaluation usually occurs after the final version of
instruction is implemented. This type of evaluation assesses the
overall effectiveness of the instruction. Data from the Summative
Evaluation is often used to make a decision about the instruction
(such as whether to purchase an instructional package or
continue/discontinue instruction).
Your Task!

• With your previous output from Cone of Experience, TPACK, ASSURE

Model, SAMR and considering this ADDIE model, write a draft lesson
plan in your field of specialization focusing on the technology
integration. Use the prescribed format in lesson planning from DepEd.

Note:
Do not submit your output for this task. We will continue working on
the same task in the succeeding activities.
