Injection in 3 points Survival rate over approximately 100 individuals : Inner 100% Injection Median 97% Point of Eels Outer 84% Average survival rate over 92 % Mortality is from 3 to 5 times lower than that of an identical conventional turbine. Objective of improvement of the survival rate above 97%

Eels are individually examined before and after the tests. Eels are divided in two batches according to their size (above and bellow 1 m length) After the passage eels are classified in 2 categories : Living eels are in perfect state and 100 % survive 48 h after the tests Dead eels are neatly cut in two.
The survival rate can be improved, with a small modification of the runner discharge ring shape Death rate could be divided by 3 allowing a survival rate estimated above 97 - 98% New tests with the new spherical profile early 2010
