The Occupational Safety and Health Act:

An Act which provides the legislative framework to secure the safety, health and welfare among all Malaysian workforces and to protect others against risks to safety or health in connection with the activities of persons at work.
Hazard:
A source or a situation with a potential for harm in terms of human injury or ill health, damage to property, damage to the environment or a combination of these
Risk
A combination of likelihood of occurrence and severity of injury or damage.
Hazard Identification: the process of recognizing that hazard exists and defining its characteristics
To identify the hazard and make the solution to control it will take a few step.
Risk Assessments: the overall process of estimating the magnitude of risk and deciding whether or not the risk is tolerable. Risk control: Is a technique that utilizes findings from risk assessments Review risk control: Look at your risk assessment and think whether there have been any changes? Concentrated acid and base chemical This hazard can cause corrosion that can be damage to our skin. Use a quality hands glove of PPE during conducting an experiment to control it.
Poor housekeeping Can cause damage to property and environments Instruct the students keep the place in tidy and make an action who obey the rules.
Protruding objects. can cause people tripping during walking that can cause fatality. Use hazards tape to mark that areas have hazard
Chemical Hazard Cause explosion and flammable which can mutilates bodies the bodies and damage to property. Keep the chemicals away from source that causes the chemical explode, flame and reacted.
Chemical shows violent reactivity. Can cause flammable when stored in too heat condition Store the chemical in cold temperature and separate it from combustible material.
Contaminated air Can cause lung cancer or asthma when we breath it Use fume chamber to suck all contaminated air in laboratory.
Analytical chemistry lab used many types of chemicals that can be categorized as hazards or source of accident. There are steps leading to safe use of chemicals are to know their 1) Identity 2) Hazards to health and the environments 3) Means to control them An essential tools was produced establish information so the degree of chemicals hazard represents for man and the environment can be recognized. Chemical hazards also can be classified as 1) Physical hazards ^ Explosiveness ^Flammability ^Ability to oxidize ^Corrosiveness
2) Health hazards ^Corrosiveness ^Toxicity (acute or chronic) 3) Environmental hazards ^Eco toxicity (aquatic toxicity)
Based on research at Analytical lab 2A, there are several pictograms or sign that show chemical hazards.
Corrosive sign at the chemical cupboard
Contains hot sign and also electric current sign at the instrument.
Containing hazardous reagents that can lead to chronic health hazards (Broken body) together with irritant (exclamations marks) and environmental hazard (dead fish and dead tree sign)
Oxidizing signs shows the chemicals used easily to oxidize and dangerous to health
Corrosive sign that can lead to skin burnt
Cupboard containing flammable liquid that can cause fire for example methanol and propanol
Sign to remind about high voltage electricity
The purpose preparing safety work permit is to controlling and coordinating work to establish and maintain safe working conditions. Safe work permit is an agreement between the issuer and the receiver that documents the conditions, preparations, precautions, and limitations that need to be clearly understood before work begins. Analytical Chemistry lab is using Safety Declaration form and also JHA form for FYP students

Good Practices in Analytical Lab. 2A:
Student and staff always wear the PPE when enter the laboratory. Enclosing the sensitive equipment the temperature surrounding such as machine UV-VIS. Produce biological safety cabinet to protect workers from exposure to aerosol especially when there is contact with biohazards when doing experiments. Put safety labeling in the laboratory Always take attendance who enter the laboratory and record the cases of occupational injuries and illness in the logbook
Improvements in Analytical Lab 2A:

The student and staff must avoid eat, drink, chew gum or tobacco, smoke or apply cosmetics in the laboratory. Rearranging aspects of workplace. Separate the control room away from operation. Make sure the staff and students always wearing FULLY PPE and correctly during the experiments. Remove gloves before handling common items like phones, instruments, door knobs and so on. When to clean up the floor, it will prefer vacuuming rather than sweeping.
