WHAT IS A FACTUAL ESSAY?

FACT- A Fact is " something that actually exists; reality;


truth.

FACTUAL DESCRIPTION- To factually describe something is


to present it as it is or appears to be.

The purpose of most FACTUAL writing is to

communicate ideas

or

answer questions.

FACTUAL Writing;

1. Gives information about a topic


1. Explains ideas
2. Gives directions
3. Shows how to do something

POINTS TO REMEMBER

How to describe; an event/ a process/ a


place/ an object
1. Think of the main points
2. Organize these points In a logical sequence
3. Write the paragraph in simple present tense
(For events use past tense)
4. Use link words like (first, then, next, finally)
5. Follow the word limit 150 WORDS

THE INTRODUCTION YOUR FIRST SENTENCES

Start with a topic sentence/main idea that uses the


key words from the prompt.
Then write three reasons that prove the topic
sentence is true. Then end with a conclusion: Finish
with a sentence that restates your topic sentence My
favourite pet is my dog, Romeo. using different words.

Romeo is cute and easy to care for. He is a tricolour
Sheltie, mostly black with white and a bit of brown.
Caring for him is easy because I simply have to make sure
he has fresh water and food every day. I exercise him by
throwing his toys. Because he is good looking and doesnt
require much care Romeo is a good pet.

As you can see, Romeo is a great pet. I am proud of


him and he doesnt require much care. Playing with him
is very pleasurable. I am always safe because he
watches over me. Romeo is a wonderful pet.
