NEW DELHI
ADelhi Universitylaw student has
been accused of stalking and
threatening a woman online.
He created her fake profiles on social
networking sites to defame her.
The woman, from Vasco-da-Gama,
Goa, lodged a complaint with Delhi
Police alleging the accused has been
harassing her for over a year now.
Cyber Legislation
INDIA
Prior to February 2013, there were no
laws that directly regulate
cyberstalking inIndia but now, Indian
Parliament has made amendmentsto
theIndian Penal Code, introducing
cyberstalking as a criminal offence.
A man committing the offence of
stalking would be liable for
imprisonment up to three years for
the first offence, and shall also be
liable to fine and for any subsequent
conviction would be liable for
imprisonment up to five years and
with fine.
