Web 2.O in The Efl Class: By: Cristina Arnau Vila (Spain)

Web 2.0 technologies can be used in EFL classrooms to facilitate sharing ideas and student autonomy. Web 2.0 allows students to read, write, and share information online through blogs, wikis, podcasts and multimedia. These tools help students develop self-sufficiency, collaboration skills, and cultural competence while finding and publishing resources. Effective lessons incorporate Web 2.0 applications like blogs for extended discussion, wikis for group work, and podcasts or videos to generate materials and publish them to authentic audiences. Teachers must carefully select activities that align with learning objectives and student interests.

WEB 2.

O IN THE EFL CLASS

BY: CRISTINA ARNAU VILA (SPAIN)

WEB 2.O

Web 2.0 is the use of World Wide Web technology

and web design that aims to facilitate the users to
share ideas, opinions, reflections and contents.
This new concept caused a new revolution because
it does not only mean reading but writing and
sharing online.
It facilitates autonomous learning, saves time
because online spaces are easy and agile to search
for, store, classify & publish information.
WEB 2.0 Characteristics

It helps students to be self-sufficient,

able to work collaboratively, to find, to
publish and share data, information and
resources easily.
It helps to improve intercultural
competence, communicative
competence and audiovisual
competence.
SERVICES & APPLICATIONS

it can be used to prolong edited.

classroom, gives feedback, group of work. All the users can

Multimedia sharing: pictures, videos

The huge growth of sites that facilitate the storage

and sharing of multimedia content has increased
enormously. The widespread of low cost digital
media technology has caused this. Sharing
multimedia resources can help students to improve
their English. Teachers can use video sharing sites to
find videos on current issues, maybe a natural
disaster or an interesting event. Students can also
create their own videos about their daily life, a
typical recipe from their country, a video clip on a
song they created, news about their town or high
school, etc.

the main aim of these activities was that students
practised what they learnt in the unit but in a
different way:
-Describe a painting.
- Find similarities and differences between paintings.
- Learn a little bit more about Leonardo Da Vinci and
Archimboldo.
- Improve their vocabulary to describe paintings.
- Practise present tenses.
Conclusion

The services and applications of Web 2.0 can help

teachers to facilitate their resources in the class but also
students to improve their English level. There exist so
many resources, that we may choose those activities
related to our syllabus and also related to topics which
are of most of the teenagers’ interest. The methodology
we are using is one of the most important issue, the
activities must be very well-designed to reach our
objectives.
However, there are also drawbacks too. Teachers should
be wise in selecting & designing lesson using WEB 2.0
