STAGES OF COGNITIVE
DEVELOPMENT
Sensory-motor stage (birth to 2 years)
Mental activity in this stage is mainly based
on experiences through senses. This stage
is limited to direct sensory and motor
interactions with the environment. During
infancy, the child is in the sensory motor
stage. Piaget viewed sensory motor stage
consists of six sub stages.
