Period of Indo-Aryan Invasions ( 1500 -800 B.C) The Aryans brought with them their religion, Vedism, with its worship of: Indra- warrior of god thunder Varuna- the god of the sky Surya- the god of the sun Agni- the god of fire Literatur e Their literature is embodied in the Vedas, the earliest of which was the Rig-Veda, containing hymns to their nature gods, to whom they offered gifts and sacrifices. The Caste System oBrahmans- the highest caste consisting of educated priests and scholars who directed the religious life of the community and supplied the rulers. oKshatriyas- the warrior class which, with the Brahmans, constituted the ruling class.
