    Benedicto Reyes Cabrera
    also known as BenCab, as he is more popularly known is widely
    hailed as a master of contemporary Philippine art.

    -He went on to study at the University of the


    Philippines College of Fine Arts, where he
    explored different art visual forms - photography, draftsmanship,
    printmaking - while honing his chosen craft as a painter. He received his
    bachelors degree in Fine Arts in 1963.

    -BenCab was born to Democrito Cabrera and Isabel Reyes in Malabon,


    Philippines on April 10, 1942. He was the youngest of nine
    children.BenCab's first exposure and discovery of the arts happened
    through his elder Brother Salvador, who was already an established
    artist during Bencab's childhood.
    Benedicto Reyes Cabrera
    -A painter and printmaker, he has exhibited widely in the Philippines
    and in Asia, Europe, and the United States. He has won several major
    art awards in a career spanning four decades. In 1992, he received the
    Gawad CCP Para sa Sining (Cultural Center of the Philippines Award for
    the Arts).
    In 2006, he was conferred the Order of National Artist for Visual Arts
    by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in Malacanang Palace.
    -His works have been the subject of three books, Ben Cabrera: Etchings
    (1970-1980) by Cid Reyes; Bencabs Rock Sessions by Eric Caruncho;
    and BENCAB by Alfred Yuson and Cid Reyes.
    -Has three children: Elisar (born in 1971), a filmmaker based in London;
    Mayumi (born in 1973), a model and actress currently living in Los
    Angeles; and Jasmine (born in 1977), a fashion stylist working in
    London.

    -The BenCab Museum was described as great museum, awesome view and good
    food.

    -Located on Km. 6 Asin Road, Tadiangan, Tuba, Benguet, the museum houses the
    permanent collection of Benedicto "Bencab" Reyes Cabrera, a celebrated modern
    Filipino painter and printmaker. In 2006, he was declared one of the National Artists
    of the Philippines for Visual Arts. The Philippine Contemporary Art Galleries highlight
    his collection of paintings, drawings, prints, and sculpture. The smaller exhibition
    rooms contain other collections he has accumulated through the years.

    -The museum is a project of the BenCab Art Foundation, a non-stock organization that
    supports activities related to the arts and the environment.
