CAUSATIVE AGENT:
• Pediculosis humanus capitis
• The adult louse usually lives and lay eggs close to the scalp. It lays 50-150
eggs during her lifetime. The nits (eggs) are cemented to the hair and hatch
within 1 week.
MODE OF TRANSMISSION:
• Direct head-to-head contact
• Common in school age
Incubation Period:
> 1-2 days
PATHOGNOMONIC SIGN:
Itchiness of the scalp
