CALCULATIONS
• Area of Swept, A = (22/7) x (radius of turbine)²
• Velocity of the Turbine = ((22/7)x D x N)/60
Where D=diameter of turbine
N=number of revolution per minute
• Power available at the turbine,
P= (1/2) x Density x (Velocity)³xCpxArea
• Voltage , V = pØN/60
Where p= no of field poles = 4
Ø = flux produced per pole
• Current , I =P/V
• Swept area by the turbine,
A = (22/7) x radius²
= (22/7) × 6.35² = 0.0126 m²
• Velocity of the turbine,
V= ((22/7) x D x N)/60
=(3.14x12.7x245)/60 = 1.63 m/s
• Power available at the turbine
=1/2x density x area x (velocity)³ x Cp =1/
2x1.23x 0.0126 x (1.63)³x0.4
=0.0134 watts
• Maximum generator voltage,
Vmax= pØNmax/60
I.e, Ø =(Vmax × 60)/pNmax
=(12 × 60)/4× 500
=0.36 wb
• Actual voltage,Vact =pØN/60
=(4×0.36×245)/60
=5.88 V
RESULT AND DISCUSSION
Turbine Voltage
Speed(rpm) (Actual)V
245 3.69
313 4.03
390 5.22
•
• The maximum voltage of Dynamo i.e. 12 volts is obt
ained when the generator is rotated at 500rpm .
• The electricity thus generated can be used to charg
e the battery and can be used for our domestic pur
poses.
• The turbine is rotating at different speeds due to ch
ange in velocity of flow. Thus, it is possible to utilize
the waste energy by using a turbine and to produce
optimum amount of electrical energy to charge a ba
ttery.
