    1.Pablo Escobar- drugs
     Who was he?

    (Pablo Emilio Escobar Gaviria, Rionegro, Antioquia, 1949 -


    Medellín, 1993) Colombian drug trafficker. To the endemic
    violence that Colombian society had been suffering from the
    clashes between the various revolutionary guerrillas and the
    army and paramilitary groups, it was necessary to add, since
    the 1980s, the spectacular rise of the drug cartels, criminal
    organizations focused on the drug trafficking that amassed
    exorbitant fortunes and that, in their hegemonic zeal, came to
    unleash the war against the same State. The head of the
    Medellin Cartel, Pablo Escobar, was the iconic figure of this
    period
    How did Pablo Escobar begin?

     Son of a farm manager and a rural teacher,


    Pablo Escobar worked from his childhood in
    various trades, washing cars or helping in the
    markets; He was also a breeder of cows, to
    later go to hired thug and car thief. His
    criminal career began with the purchase of
    stolen goods and small-scale contraband,
    until he was introduced to marijuana
    trafficking and, finally, cocaine trafficking.
    Cocaine
     In 1974 he undertook the creation of a cocaine
    production and distribution business that would
    grow over time to become a vast criminal
    organization dedicated mainly to drug
    trafficking: the Medellín Cartel. With Pablo
    Escobar as the boss, the group began its
    activities around 1976, the year in which Escobar
    was arrested with nineteen kilos of cocaine,
    although his case was dismissed. The
    organization prospered rapidly and, in the early
    1980s, Pablo Escobar already owned a
    considerable fortune.

    man of the people, financed development plans
    for the suburbs of Medellín: thus, he built a
    neighborhood for the disenfranchised called

    homes that he built for people in need. This
    allowed him to obtain the votes that made him
    lieutenant mayor of the City of Medellín
    ¨I kill your mother, your father, your
    grandmother and if your grandmother is
    dead from the unearthing and I kill her
    again¨.
