Animals are usually slaughtered by being first stunned and
then exsanguinated (bled out). Death results from the one or the other
procedure, depending on the methods employed.
Stunning can be effected through asphyxiating the animals with carbon dioxide,
shooting them with a gun or a captive bolt pistol, or shocking them with electric
current.

jugular vein in cattle and sheep, and the anterior vena cava in pigs

Vegetarians also appear to have lower low-density
lipoprotein cholesterol levels, lower blood pressure, and
lower rates of hypertension and type 2 diabetes than
nonvegetarians. Furthermore, vegetarians tend to have a
lower body mass index and lower overall cancer rates.
Features of a vegetarian diet that may reduce risk of
chronic disease include lower intakes of saturated fat and
cholesterol and higher intakes of fruits, vegetables, whole
grains, nuts, soy products, fiber, and phytochemicals.
What should
vegan eat ?
• A vegetarian diet based on any single one or
combination of these unprocessed starches (eg, rice,
corn, potatoes, beans), with the addition of
vegetables and fruits, supplies all the protein, amino
acids, essential fats, minerals, and vitamins (with the
exception of vitamin B12) necessary for excellent
health
• A vegetarian diet based on the AHA guidelines of 5 to
6 servings of whole grains and 5 or more servings of
vegetables and fruit would, in fact, supply all of the
amino acids necessary for health.
