The document discusses seasons and eclipses. It notes that the Philippines only has two seasons - dry season and wet season. It then explains the different types of solar and lunar eclipses. Solar eclipses occur when the moon passes between the earth and sun, while lunar eclipses occur when the earth passes between the sun and moon. The types of solar eclipses are total, partial, and annular, and the types of lunar eclipses are total, partial, and penumbral.

REVIEW: Seasons
Seasons are patterns of how
weather changes in each year.
Philippines has only 2 seasons.
1. Dry Season 2. Wet Season WH T'S BEHIND THAT SHADOW? Mechanics: 1. The students will be grouped into 5. 2. Each group will make a line facing the back. Only one member will be facing the front. 3. The teacher will show different shadows and the only representative facing the front will think of the answer on what is behind the shadow. 4. The representative will be given five seconds to think of the answer. Mechanics: 5. After the time is up, the representative of each group will pass the answer to his/her preceding member until the answer reached the last member. Do it silently. 6. The last member will go in front as fast as they can to tell the teacher the answer if they already know it. 7. The group that will collect the most points will win the game and will receive a prize after class. TELESCOPE SPACE CRAFT SATELLITE MOON ASTRONAUT FLASHLIGHT SUN ECLIPSE SOLAR LUNAR AND

No Eclipse • An eclipse takes place when one heavenly body moves into the shadow of another heavenly body.
Two Types of Eclipse
1. Solar Eclipse 2. Lunar Eclipse Solar Eclipse • when the sun looks like it is completely or partially covered with a dark circle because the moon is between the sun and the Earth. Umbra and Penumbra Contracted Pupil Dilated Pupil Types of Solar Eclipses Total Solar Eclipses - occurs when the Moon completely covers the Sun, as seen from Earth.
Partial Solar Eclipses - happens when
the Moon only partially covers the disk of the Sun. Types of Solar Eclipses Annular Solar Eclipses - occurs when the Moon appears smaller than the Sun as it passes centrally across the solar disk and a bright ring, or annulus, of sunlight remains visible during the eclipse. Lunar Eclipse • when the moon looks like it is completely or partially covered with dark circle because the Earth shadow is on it. Types of Lunar Eclipses Total Lunar Eclipses - occurs when Earth's umbra – the central, dark part of its shadow – obscures the Moon’s entire surface.
Partial Lunar Eclipses - can be observed when only
part of the Moon's surface is obscured by Earth’s umbra.
Penumbral Lunar Eclipses - happens when the Moon
travels through the faint penumbral portion of Earth’s shadow. Evaluate: 1. When the moon comes directly between the Sun and the Earth, _______ eclipse occurs. 2. When the moon is directly on the opposite side of the Earth as the sun, _______ eclipse occurs. 3-4. The unequal shading produced gray outer region called ________ and a darker region called _______. 5. This type of eclipse occurs in daytime. THANK YOU
