Coal Handling Plant
 Coal is brought to the site through wagons as
per the requirements.
 It is then transferred to the hoppers through
“Track hopper “ and “Wagon Tipplers”.
 The hopper discharges the coal onto the
conveyor system and is stored in a series of
silos each one leading to a feeder , pulverizer
and ultimately to the boiler.

Treatment of Coal

 Coal moves into


 the plant through
conveyors and is
stored in a series of
silos
 The coal within each
silo falls into the
feeder which
measures and
controls the flow of
coal into the
pulverizer.
 Inside the pulverizer
the coal falls on large
rotating bowl where it
is continuously
crushed by three
large grinding wheels
until it becomes into
powder.
 The pulverized coal is
then carried by the
conveyor belts to the
coal yard for storage.
 With the help of a
Trencher and a series
of long conveyor
system the pulverized
coal is then
transfered to the
boilers.
 When the particles of coal reaches the burners
they are mixed secondary air which is
preheated to about 500 degrees to support
complete combustion inside the boiler.
 The combustion converts its chemical energy
into thermal energy creating the temperature
inside boiler of over 2200 degree celcius.
 This is enough to heat the water in a series of
tubes to create steam which moves onto the
turbineto power the next step in the process .
Turbine
Turbine rotary engine that converts the energy of a
moving stream of water, steam, or gas into mechanical
energy. The basic element in a turbine is a wheel or
rotor with paddles, propellers, blades, or buckets
arranged on its
circumference in such a fashion that the moving fluid
exerts a tangential force that turns the wheel and imparts
energy to it. This mechanical energy is then transferred
through a drive shaft to operate a machine,
Generators
In electricity generation, an electrical generator is
a device that converts mechanical energy to
electrical energy, generally using electromagnetic
induction. The reverse conversion of electrical
energy into mechanical energy is done by a
motor, and motors and generators have many
similarities. A generator forces electric charges to
move through an external electrical circuit, but it
does not create

 90% of toxic emission is captured before it hits
the atmosphere.
 Smoke bolws into ESP's. Toxic particles clinge
to these metal plates like magnets and smoke
passes through.
 But the filtered smoke still contains sulphur the
culprit in acid rain therefore before it is sent into
the smoke stack it is cleaned again.
