Car Parking
Car Parking
Introduction
GSM plays a vital role in connecting the surrounding environmental things to the
network and made easy to access those un-internet things from any remote location.
It’s inevitable for the people to update with the growing technology. And generally
people are facing problems on parking vehicles in parking slots in a city. In this study
we design a Smart Parking System (SPS) which enables the user to find the nearest
parking area and gives availability of parking slots in that respective parking area.
And it mainly focus on reducing the time in finding the parking lots and also it avoids
the unnecessary travelling through filled parking lots in a parking area. Thus it
reduces the fuel consumption which in turn reduces carbon footprints in an
atmosphere.
Problem Statement
Conventionally, car parking systems does not have any intelligent monitoring system.
Parking lots are monitored by human beings. All vehicles enter into the parking and waste
time for searching for parking slot. Sometimes it creates blockage. Condition become
worse when there are multiple parking lanes and each lane have multiple parking slots.
Use of automated system for car parking monitoring will reduce the human efforts.
Display unit is installed on entrance of parking lot which will show LCD for all Parking
slot and for all parking lanes. Empty slot is indicated on LCD display as well as send sms
using gsm module
Scope
1. Very simple to manage, control and regulate.
2. Organized manner and can be easily handled by parking staff.
3. It is a cost-effective method of monitoring and tackling parking
areas.
4. The integrated parking system saves lot deal on time.
5. It is reliable system.
6. Enhanced security.
7. System can be used and applied anywhere due to ease of usage.

1. Smart Parking System Based On Reservation
Author :-Mohit Patil1, Rahul Sakore2
With the increase of economic behavior and the upgrade of living standard, the ratio of people in
India who own automobiles and motorcycles have recently increased giving a boost to
Metropolitan Traffic. Therefore, parking issues will be a big challenge to facilitate traffic network
and ensure urban life quality. Searching for parking space in most metropolitan areas, especially
during the rush hours, is difficult for drivers. The difficulty arises from not knowing where the
available spaces may be at that time; even if known, many vehicles may pursue very limited
parking spaces to cause serious traffic congestion. In this paper, we design and implement a
prototype of Smart Parking System based on Reservation (SPSR) that allows drivers to effectively
find and reserve the vacant parking spaces. By periodically learning the parking status from the
host parking database management in parking lots, the reservation service is affected by the
change of physical parking status. The drivers are allowed to access this cyber-physical system
with their personal communication devices.

2. Smart And Secured Parking System (Ssps).
Author:- Akansha Shrivastava, Lokesh VK
Innovative parking systems for meeting near term parking demand are needed. The rapid
increase in the number of vehicles on the road has led to serious traffic congestion and
finding a parking space is a very big concern. The drivers do not know where the available
space may be at the time of parking. For the limited places left, a lot of vehicles try to park at
the same space. SSPS allows drivers to find and reserve a vacant parking space in an efficient
manner by checking the status of the parking lot. It guides the vehicle to the nearest free
parking space through real-time parking navigation service. SSPS is a novel, secure and
intelligent parking system (SSPS) based on secured wireless network and sensor
communication. The end-users can easily access this software with their personal
communication devices. We address hardware/software architecture, implementations, and
analytical models and results.
BLOCK DIAGRAM
Working of the system
The aim of this project is to atomize the car park for allowing the cars into the park.
LCDis provided to display the information about the total number of cars that can be
parked and the place free for parking. Here we are using RFID reader with three tages
like two tages for authorised person one for unauthorised and if car has no tags then it
will indicate through IR sensor.
If unauthorised car or car with no tag is detected then send an sms using gsm module on
a particular mobile number.
Description of Modules
The Arduino Uno is a microcontroller board based on the ATmega328 (datasheet). It has
14 digital input/output pins (of which 6 can be used as PWM outputs), 6 analog inputs, a
16 MHz ceramic resonator, a USB connection, a power jack, an ICSP header, and a reset
:
button. It contains everything needed to support the microcontroller; simply connect it to
a computer with a USB cable or power it with a AC-to- DC adapter or battery to get
started. The Uno differs from all preceding boards in that it does not use the FTDI USB-
to- serial driver chip. Instead, it features the Atmega16U2 (Atmega8U2 up to version
R2) programmed as a USB-to- serial converter.
IR SENSOR
Proximity Sensor is used to detect objects and obstacles in front of sensor. Sensor
keeps transmitting infrared light and when any object comes near, it is detected by
the sensor by monitoring
: the reflected light from the object. It can be used in robots
for obstacle avoidance, for automatic doors, for parking aid devices or for security
alarm systems, or contact less tachometer by measuring RPM of rotation objects like
fan blades. Digital low output on detecting objects in front.

Future Scope
The future scope to adopt IOT based car Parking System so that availability of spaces
could be displayed on a smart phone Application or even to satellite navigation device
so that drivers will always aware of whether there are free spaces are not. And also
enhance to send some notifications to users smart phone when vehicle enters to
particular shopping places and some streets in a city etc.User and Admin application we
can embed the Google maps into application so it helps the user to see the direction
through maps to reach the correct parking spot. GPS (Global Position System) help the
user to find the co-ordinate and right path of the parking spot.
In future work, we innovate this system which is not only used in a particular parking
area available, but can be extended and also be implemented on various other platforms
such as railway stations, airports, mall parking spaces. This will make the management
of the parking spaces efficiently, by eliminatingneed of manual labor work.
