The Rise of Robot Friendship

DE GUZMAN, ERICCA
SARIA, ANNE SHAIRA
TORREFLORES,
In 1954, George Devol built
the first commercial, digital
and programmable robot and
named it Unimate. It was sold
to General Motors in 1961.

It is used to lift pieces of hot

metal from die casting
machines at the Island Fisher
Guide Plant in the West
Trenton section of Ewing
Township in New Jersey City.
WHY DO
WE NEED
ROBOTS
IN OUR
LIFE
They are used routinely to carry out many
tasks that people don't want to do
because such jobs are boring, dirty or
dangerous. Robots can also be
programmed to carry out some tasks that
are too complex for humans.
A robot may not injure a human being or,
through inaction, allow a human being to
come to harm. A robot must obey the
orders given it by human beings except
where such orders would conflict with the
LAWS
First Law
-A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm

Second Law
-A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict
with the First Law.

Third Law
-A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First
or Second Laws.
How ROBOTS help HUMANS?

Robots are a good way to implement the lean

principle in an industry. They save time as they
can produce more products. They also reduce the
amount of wasted material used due to the high
accuracy. Including robots in production lines, will
save money as they have quick return on
investment.
