Construction Products Directive CPD

CPD: EN54 is mandatory for fire detection and


alarm systems in all EU member states
 2008: issue of two new parts of EN54
 Part 16: voice alarm systems
End of co-existence period*: March 2011
 Part 24: loudspeakers for voice alarm systems
End of co-existence period*: April 2011

* End of co-existence period: conflicting national


standards must be withdrawn

• When the voice alarm system is controlled by the
fire detection system
 Application not necessary
• When the voice alarm system is a stand-alone
system (triggered manually) or
• controlled by others that fire detection systems

persons having a general responsibility for
safety supervision

 Manual controls shall be accessible

 Fuse Rupture
• Indication on a remote microphone by programmed
fault receipt (acknowledge) button for all amps
 Fault in Signal Path between System components
• Only for SX-2000: indication by programmed fault
receipt (acknowledge) button
 Earth Leakage
• For outgoing wires (e.g. speaker lines, microphones)
• Only necessary if not implemented in other fault
