    Importance of testing

     Testing is only one of the best way to check the fabric characteristic
     By testing we can check fabric strength along warp and weft wise
     By testing we can check the composition of fiber which use for making of
    yarn and fabric
     By testing we can check fabric GSM or we can say pilling
     By testing we can check fabric behavior against rubbing
     By testing we can check fabric dyes bonding with fabric
    Fabric selection

     Denim is one of most use fabric in textile sector especially in sports products,
    So to use denim fabric.
     I need some test to check the denim fabric quality level
     Some test are
     Dry rubbing test
     Wet rubbing test
     Pilling test
     Tearing Test
    Dry rubbing & Wet rubbing test

     Dry rubbing test


     In this test, we took a dry cotton fabric white color piece and rub it on a denim
    fabric for some time 30sec to 1mint
     By rubbing this denim fabric is not good at dry rubbing then compare with standard
    scale If dyes rubbing will cause a minor effect on whiteness of fabric ,then it can
    be acceptable otherwise we need denim fabric with good dye effect
    Wet rubbing

     In this process we do same method as a dry process but in this we used wet
    white cotton fabric piece instead of dry piece after some time we check
    result by comparing with stander scale.
     If its result are not goo then fabric is fail in wet rubbing
    Pilling Test

     Pilling is a fabric surface characterized by little pills of entangled fiber


    clinging to the cloth surface and giving the garment unsightly appearance.
    The pills are formed during wear and washing by the entanglement of loose
    fibers which protrude from the fabric surface.
     Under the influence of the rubbing action these loose fibers develop into
    small spherical bundles anchored to the fabric by a few unbroken fibers.
     The samples are given a multi directional movement and rubbed against a
    standard fabric. After certain number of rubs, the samples are examined and
    the number of pills counted.
    Tearing Test

     Tear strength is the tensile force required to rupture a pre-slit woven fabric
    sample under controlled conditions.
     Edge tearing strength of paper is the load required to tear a sample over a V-
    notch fixture.
    what is a statistical process control

     Statistical process control (SPC) is a method of quality control which employs


    statistical methods to monitor and control a process.
     This helps to ensure that the process operates efficiently, producing more
    specification-conforming products with less waste (rework or scrap).
     SPC can be applied to any process where the "conforming product" (product
    meeting specifications) output can be measured.
     Key tools used in SPC include run charts, control charts, a focus on
    continuous improvement, and the design of experiments.
     An example of a process where SPC is applied is manufacturing lines.
    Types of Causes

     Wrong testing
     Wrong tensile strength test would lead to effect the process of the product.
     Gram per Square meter( Gsm ) test would lead to effect the process of the
    product.
     shrinkage will also effect the material and its process.
     wrong fabric construction also effect on the process.

     Fabric
     Thread
     Accessories
     Layout Problem of process during production
     Untrained employees
     Atmosphere will also effect the process
    Causes that prevent by SPC.

     In textile Apparel Sector, If we have selected ,such types of fabric to sew,


    which is not compatible to our machine Setting and we know that ,the sewing
    machine which are used in denim manufacturing having high speed ,tension
    ,pressure in their presser foot and feed dogs.
     After induction of cut panel in production line ,we will observe that the selected
    fabric was torn off and puckering will occur that will highly effect the Process.
     We can reduce or prevent it by proper using of ASTM Standard method on
    testing material like different Fabric test, thread test and accessories test.
     Also if we use bad quality thread that will continuously break during process
    when production run in sewing line, that will slow the process, production and
    also waste of time ,that will increase the cost of process and production.
