• In the recent years, there is a rapid increase in the number of speech - disabled victims
due to several reasons like by birth, oral diseases, accidents, etc… and need for the
Electronic Assistive Technology (EST) also increases particularly among physically
impaired.
• This project is useful for the deaf and dumb, it can also be used for the (speechless)
patients with half of their bodies paralyzed and who are not able to speak but are able to
move their fingers
THE AIM OF THE PROJECT:
• Flex Sensors fixed with the glove pick up the gesture made by the individual and then with the help
of the Arduino that analog input is converted to digital for various gestures,
• For every digital output we have a set a specific gesture which then sends a message which is
displayed on the LCD
• Not only can this but the particular needy person also use this glove to control the lights, fan, AC
or any other devices.
• the Heartbeat sensor senses the heartbeat of the person and displays it on the LCD, so that the
nearby person can observe the heart rate easily. In case, the heartbeat is getting too low or too high,
the doctor will get the alert too by an SMS and call.
CIRCUIT AND OPERATION
• consists of the handgloves fitted with the flex sensors, GSM module, heartbeat
module,arduino uno and Rf transmitter.
• all the gestures from the glove with the flex sensor is converted into messages and
comands for the operation. the microcontroller takes and provides the desired output.
• the GSM module takes in the gesture and sends a text message to the lcd with the desired
notification
• the heartbeat module records the pulse rate and the heart beat and sends the message on
the lcd screen.
RECEIVER SECTION
• This section is only for the display the message or the operation of different devices
through the gesture.
• the RF sensor receives the command and sends it to the arduino uno.
• we also added an led bulb, motor, lcd and beeper to show and display messages and
warnings.
CONCLUSION
• This project is useful for differently abled, speech-impaired and paralyzed patients who
cannot speak properly.
• This work is done to check the feasibility of recognizing sign language using flex sensor
and accelerometer gloves and displaying the data, which proved to be an efficient system.
• The main feature of this research work is that the gesture recognizer is a standalone
system applicable in daily life and for biomedical purposes
