( Closed Injury ) These are
wounds without breakage in the skin,

ruptured blood vessels ☼Vomiting
☼Thirstiness ☼Blood in urine or stool
FIRST AID FOR CLOSED WOUND
R.I.C.E.S
☼Rest – keep the injured body part rested.
☼Ice – ice packs to lessen the swelling
☼Compress – minimize blood flow and
swelling
5. Splint
☼Elevate – decrease swelling
☼Splint – to secure and avoid further
damage
CLASSIFICATION OF SOFT TISSUE
INJURIES
2. Open Soft Tissue Injury
( Open Wound )
An obvious break in the skin
and underlying tissues.
DIFFERENT KINDS OF OPEN
WOUNDS
☼Abrasion – is also called as ☼Incision – a clean and deep cut by knife,
cutter, or blade. Infections happen when

vessel connecting scrapes. Natural clotting water
arterioles with venules that makes the bleeding • Apply tincture of
stop iodine
• Cover sterile dressing
Venous Bleeding Vein – which carries A steady but slow even • Apply direct pressure
blood with carbon dioxide flow of dark blood • RICES
• Cover sterile dressing
and bandage
TYPES OF BLEEDING
BLEEDING AFFECTED BLOOD CHARACTERISTICS PRIMARY CARE
VESSEL
Arterial Bleeding Artery – blood vessel Bleed to death Apply extremely firm
carries blood with oxygen pressure on the wound
in different parts
FIRST AID FOR MINOR BLEEDING
☼Wash the minor wounds like
scrapes and scratches with
soap and water apply
antiseptics to prevention
infection and cover the
wound
FIRST AID FOR SEVERE BLEEDING
1. Position the Victim. e. Dressing and Bandaging appropriate in
2. Control the bleeding. the wound
a. Apply direct pressure with wounds f. Watch for signs of shock
embed by an object g. Immediate medical transport to hospital
b. Bandage the wound and tie with a square for immediate action
knot in the wound
c. Elevate the injured part above the
victim’s part
d. Pressure on the artery supplying blood to
the injury
