Introduction of SPV

• These are the vehicles that are not used in general purpose.
• It includes non-mainstream motor vehicles.
• The vehicles designed to perform a function other than the
general transport of goods.
• They are typically heavy vehicles.
• These vehicles are described by their functions.
• Different arrangements, modifications have been done to
make special functionality on vehicles, mostly are
permanent types arrangements.
• All the vehicles which are in category of Special
functionality, are of off-road type vehicles.
• It should be constructed as a single unit-from the ground up
to perform special purpose.
Classification of Special Purpose Vehicle
• Classification of special purpose vehicles based on
applications
Bulldozers - Used for leveling road, to dig land.
Dumper - To dump garbage, waste to dumping sites.
Military engineering vehicles - To carry raw material and for
transportation of army men.
Farm Tractors - To plough, to feed seeds, to harvest grass, to
saw.
Armoured Vehicles - To carry heavy weapons in very rough
road and in desert.
Articulated vehicle - Allowing the vehicle to turn more
sharply.
J. C. Bamford – For off road working for underground
pipeline.
Excavators – Demolition, Mining, river dredging.
Cranes – To hoist, to raise heavy loads on taller buildings.
Power shovel – For excavation and removal of
overburden in open-cut mining operations.
Graders - Used for leveling, spreading and finishing of
earth work.
Harvester – To harvest crops.
Forklift – To carry raw material, products at industry to
make stack at storage.
Tunnel boring machine – To make tunnel from mountain
for preparing road.
Road roller – To harden the surface of asphalt during
preparing new road, to crush waste.
