BAR GLASSES

THREE MAJOR TYPES OF


GLASSWARES:
TUMBLERS
FOOTED WARE
STEM WARE
A. TUMBLERS
Flat-bottomed glasses; and sides may
be straight, flared or curved; mugs
are tumblers with a handle used for
serving beers; sizes and shapes of
glasses are determined by the drinks
that are served in them: old
fashioned, highball, Collins, etc; shot
glasses are considered as tumblers.
HIGHBALL GLASS
 is a glass tumbler used to
serve 'tall' cocktails and
other mixed drinks that
contain a large proportion
of a non-alcoholic mixer,
and are poured over ice. It
is often used
interchangeably with the
Collins Glass, although
the highball glass is
shorter and wider in shape.
COLLINS GLASS
 is a glass tumbler which
typically will contain
300 to 410 millilitres
(10 to 14 US fl oz). It is
used to serve mixed
drinks, especially
Tom Collins or
John Collins cocktails.
It is cylindrical in shape
and narrower and taller
than a highball glass.
PILSNER
are suitable for
serving a variety of
beers. It is best used
for
serving pilsner style
beers.
OLD-FASHIONED GLASS
 Rocks glass,
lowball glass is a short
tumbler used for serving
spirits, such as whisky,
neat or with ice cubes
("on the rocks"). It is
also normally used to
serve certain cocktails,
such as the Old
Fashioned, from which
it receives its name.
BEER MUG

ROCKS
It is also
normally used to
serve certain
cocktails, such
as the Old
Fashioned.
SLING
It is a cocktail
glass for long
drinks. The
medium volume
gives the
opportunity to
serve long
drinks with ice.
WHEAT BEER GLASS
are designed for and
primarily used for wheat
beers. The curved lip at
the top of the glass helps
trap and encourage a thick
foam head, allowing for
you to appreciate the full
aroma and flavor that
comes along with wheat
beers
SHOOTER
A shooter, or shot, is
a small serving of 
spirits or a mixed drink
 (usually about one
ounce), typically
consumed quickly,
always in a single
gulp.
SHOT
IRISH COFFEE
This tempered glass
mug is used in many
restaurants to
serve Irish coffee,
regular coffee, tea, or
other hot beverages. 
B. FOOTED WARE
includes all glasses with a
bowl that sits directly on top
of a base, or foot; the brandy
snifter and the hurricane glass
are examples of footed ware.
BRANDY BALLON
 (also called brandy
snifter, brandy bowl,
cognacglass, or balloon) is
a type of stemware, a short-
stemmed glass whose vessel
has a wide bottom and a
relatively narrow top. It is
mostly used to serve aged
brown spirits such as
bourbon, brandy, and
whisky.
HURRICANE
 It is used to serve 
mixed drinks,
particularly the 
Hurricane from which
it is named originating
at Pat O'Brien's Bar in 
New Orleans
WATER GOBLET
FOOTED HIGHBALL
PARFAIT
This glass has a similar
inwards curve to that of a
hurricane glass, with a
steeper outwards rim and
larger, rounded bowl.
Often used for drinks
containing fruit or ice
cream.
C. STEMWARE
like footed ware, with a stem
between the foot and the bowl;
specific shapes and sizes are
traditionally used for certain drinks;
sour, margarita, and champagne are
examples; different wines are also
served in stemware.
MARTINI
 isprobably the most
famous glass in the world
of drinking.
MARGARITA
 A versatile cocktail
glass for serving
margaritas and other
mixed drinks; the
wide diameter
allows plenty of
room for salt to
adhere.
RED WINE

CHAMPAGNE
CHAMPAGNE SAUCER
SHERRY

is a type of drink


ware generally used
for serving aromatic
alcoholic beverages,
such as sherry, port,
aperitifs, and
liqueurs, and layered
shooters.
PORT
Port wine (also known as
vinho do Porto, Portuguese
pronunciation: [ˌviɲudu
ˈpoɾtu], Porto, and usually
simply port) is a Portuguese
fortified wine produced with
distilled grape spirits
exclusively in the Douro
Valley in the northern
provinces of Portugal.
POUSSE CAFÉ
Used in an after-
dinner drink
consisting of several
liqueurs of different
colors and specific
gravities poured so as
to remain in separate
layers.
POCO GRANDE
Sometimes referred to as
a Piña Colada glass,
the Poco Grande is a
big-bowled glass and is
commonly used for
frozen drinks (served
with crushed ice).
