Blogging
o A shortened form of web log
o A personal journal websites on which a user can type an entry and add images,
videos, and links to other websites
o A discussion or informational website published on the World Wide Web
consisting of discrete, often informal diary-style text entries
o A way of expressing The act of posting a content on a blog (a web log or online
journal) or posting comments on someone else’s blog
o A way of sharing one’s thoughts, ideas, opinions or experiences
o Blogs can also use to give advice, solve a problem or to teach
Purpose of a blog
To offer informative, helpful, educational content to people who want to read what
you have to say.

To provide content on your website that answers your prospective customers’


questions and help them learn about your products and services.

To provide reader engagement. Readers have a chance to comment and voice their
different concerns and thoughts to the community.
Types of Blog
PERSONAL BLOG
 An ongoing diary or commentary by individual, is the traditional, most common blog
 What makes a personal blog successful?
-Longevity -Adaptability --Personal branding
-Lifestyle -Personality
Examples:
 Travel blogs(The Blog Abroad by Gloria Atanmo)
 Wellness and health
 Gardening
Corporate and organizational blogs
• Blogs used internally to enhance the communication and culture in a
corporation or externally for marketing
• Expert tips or best practices and company news from the perspective of a
brand.
Company blogs like Google, and Facebook
CEO blog
Industry blog
Department/product blog
BY GENRE
• political blogs, project blogs, education blogs, niche blogs,
classical music blogs, and legal blogs.
