Linear Algebra (Echelon Form of A Matrix)
Linear Algebra (Echelon Form of A Matrix)
1 0 3
2 4 1
1 3 0
RANK OF A MATRIX: -
The number of non zero rows, after
converting a matrix into echelon form is
known the RANK of a matrix, for example,
1 3 3
A= 0 1 1 has Rank 2
0 0 0 1 3 0 4
B = 0 1 1 0 has Rank 3
0 0 0 1
NULLITY OF A MATRIX: -
The number of zero rows, after converting a
matrix into echelon form is known the
NULLITY of a matrix.
so you can find out that the in previous slide
matrix A has nullity …….. and the matrix B
has nullity ………., Hence
3 0 1 0 0
& 0 0 1
0 1
0 1 0
