Ways of Teaching Modal Verbs in Secondary School
The major aim of our research is to investigate the category of
modality from the lexico-grammatical point of view and to account
for the means of expressing lexical and grammatical modality in
English and Romanian and the ways of teaching Modals in
Secondary School.

The tasks of investigation determined the structure and volume

of our paper which consists of:

Introduction, Chapter One, Chapter Two, Conclusions,

Bibliography, Summary, and Appendix
In Chapter I we have studied different approaches to the
category of modality. The grammarians treat the semantic value of
modality rather differently
In the Chapter II we have analyzed the exercises included in
the school manuals used for teaching Modal Verbs.
Chapter III is a practical display of rules of teaching modality in
pictures.

Modal verbs are also called modal auxiliary verbs, modal

auxiliaries, or simply modals. They are verbs which 'help' other
verbs to express a meaning: it is important to realise that these
"modal verbs" have no meaning by themselves.
