CROSS-STITCH This work is like needle painting of simple or complex motifs using the simple cross stitch to create the design. MONOGRAM Initials or monograms may be put on towels, shirts, and personal things using satin stitch. NEEDLEPOINT This is a method that involves filling in of a ready-marked pictures or design in plain canvas. It is done using a special blunt-pointed needle Methods of traditional embroidery Callado Callado Is a kind of embroidery that decorates a textile wherein a yarn is pulled off from the cloth. It is done in fine cloths like piňa, chifonelle and santana that are used to make ladies and mens garments. Sombrado Sombrado Is a kind of embroidery on which curvilinear patterns are appliqued to thin cloth to make silhoute designs Tools, Equipment and Materials Used in Embroidery Gauge or Ruler Used to measure materials of short distances Tape Measure Used to measure distances or materials more than one foot. Thimble A material made from metal or plastic that is used protect the middle finger while sewing. Embroidery scissors Small,sharp and pointed scissors that is especially designed for embroidery.
