Introduction

Software refers to the computer


programs and data held in the storage
of the computer. In other words,
software is a set of programs,
procedures, algorithms and its
documentation concerned with the
operation of a data processing system.
What is software :

Computer software is just like a soul of


computer hardware. Computer software
make able the computer hardware of
various function and operation.

Without software a computer does nothing


useful.
software, instructions that tell a computer
what to do. Software comprises the entire
set of programs, procedures, and routines
associated with the operation of a computer
system.

The term was coined to differentiate these


instructions from hardware—i.e., the
physical components of a computer system.
Objective of Software
The main objectives of software is: it has an
ability to design a system, component, or
process to meet desired needs within realistic
constraints such as economic, environmental,
social, political, ethical, health and safety,
manufacturability, and sustainability.
Types of Software:
THERE ARE 2 TYPES OF SOFTWARE:

1.System Software - Software that


controls your hardware.

2.Application Software - End-user


Software i.e Browsers, word
processors or spreadsheets.
Software is used to control
a computer. The software
that can run on a
computer: system
software, utility software,
and application software.
Function of Software:
The software can make the
computer to compare data, make
logical decisions, do mathematical
calculations, store and retrieve
data and instructions from
primary or secondary, and
carryout sequences of tasks.

The software enables computer users


to obtain what they need from the
computer
Importance of Software:
• Software programs control the hardware that we
use as well as utilize our inputs to create and
provide us with useful information.

• We use Software in our daily lives. For example:

• Communication: Social media,


Sending/Receiving Texts, video calls, Emails.
• Business: Online collaborations, real-
time telecommunication, cloud
computing

• Playing: Movies, Gaming, listening to


music

• Learning: Online Classrooms, distance
