The word Christian is used three times

• Acts 11:26
• 26 and when he found him, he brought him to
Antioch. So for a whole year Barnabas and
Saul met with the church and taught great
numbers of people. The disciples were called
Christians first at Antioch.
• Acts 26:28
• 28 Then Agrippa said to Paul, “Do you think that in such
a short time you can persuade me to be a Christian?”

•1 Peter 4:16
• 16 However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be
ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name.
MEANING
A Christian is someone

HOW CAN ONE BECOME A CHRISTIAN?
• Admit that you are a sinner.
• Romans 3:10
• New International Version As it is written:

“There is no one righteous, not even one;

23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
HOW CAN ONE BECOME A CHRISTIAN?
• Confess your sins to God
• 1 John 1:9
• 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and
purify us from all unrighteousness.

• Greek word for “confess” is homologeo which basically means “to say the same
thing” and then “agree, admit, acknowledge.
HOW CAN ONE BECOME A CHRISTIAN?
• John 1:12
• 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he
gave the right to become children of God—
THE BLESSINGS OF BEING A CHRISTIAN
• Right to become a child of God. (John 1;12)
• Your sins are forgiven
• Ephesians 1:7
• 7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the
forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s
grace
THE BLESSINGS OF BEING A CHRISTIAN
• Will experience peace from God
• Romans 5:1
• 5 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we[a] have
peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ
• You will be saved
• John 3:16
THE BLESSINGS OF BEING A CHRISTIAN
• Will become citizens of heaven

• Philippians 3:20
• 20 But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a
Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ,

• Will become heirs of heaven
• 1 Peter 2
• 4 As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by humans but chosen by God and
precious to him— 5 you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house[a] to
be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 6
For in Scripture it says:
“See, I lay a stone in Zion,
a chosen and precious cornerstone,
and the one who trusts in him
will never be put to shame.”[b]
THE BLESSINGS OF BEING A CHRISTIAN
• You will become a new creation
• 2 Corinthians 5:17
• 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has
come:[a] The old has gone, the new is here!
