What is robotics?

Robotics is interdisciplinary branch of engineering and


science that includes:

 mechanical engineering

 electrical engineering

 computer science
History of robotics

 The word „robot” comes from Slavic word robota which means labour.
 The word first appeared in 1920 by Czech writer Karel Čapek in his play R.U.R.
 In 1942 the science fiction writer Isaac Asimov created his Three Laws of Robotics.
 350 B.C. The pigeon –wooden mechanical bird
History
 1495 Leonardo Da Vinci made the first human-like robot.
 1898 Tesla’s remote controlled boat.
 1960 Joe Engelberger and George Devol made the first industrial
robot called The Unimate.
History

 1989 Genghis is the first walking robot produced by Mobile Robots Group.
 2000 Honda announced the Asimo one of the most impressive machines in
robotics.
